Not all sports cars, let alone luxury sports cars, are ready from the factory for the track. But the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is one of the few that genuinely are. Although no sports sedan, not even it, can magic driver error away, the smaller and lighter Blackwing is a terror on the track. However, there might be an even sharper version coming soon: the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition.

It won’t be ready until next year, but when it arrives, the Cadillac GTP Hypercar will shoulder a successful legacy. Cadillac has been on a racing tear these last few years, especially at IMSA events. For one, the brand won the 2017, 2018, and 2021 manufacturer’s titles in the Prototype/Daytona Prototype International class in both the IMSA Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup series. Also, its current DPi-V.R. racer won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
So, Cadillac is understandably in a celebratory mood. And at the recent Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen race, it previewed how it’s celebrating—with the CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition. Or rather, the Track Editions.
Yup, Cadillac is releasing three CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions named after different racetracks: Watkins Glen, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. And the photo above, taken from Cadillac Performance’s official Twitter account, shows what they’ll look like.
What makes the Track Edition different from a regular Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing?

As of this writing, Cadillac hasn’t released official specs for the Track Editions. However, the preview image and Cadillac’s other teasers do reveal a few things.
Firstly, the Track Editions wear carbon-fiber front splitters and rear spoilers. These appear to be the same ones from the CT4-V Blackwing’s Carbon Fiber 1 and 2 packages. Secondly, those splitters bear IMSA decals, as well as striping on the hoods and doors. And thirdly, each has its namesake track’s layout in decal form on its rear side window.
Because Cadillac says the Track Editions offer “unique interior packages, colors, and graphics,” they likely aren’t mechanically different than regular CT4-V Blackwings. As such, these packages are sort of like the Cadillac equivalent of the 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Edition.
But then, it’s not like a standard Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is slow. This 472-hp RWD sports sedan went 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds in Car and Driver’s hands, and that’s with a stick. Motor1’s automatic tester hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. And while the CT5-V Blackwing is faster still, the CT4-V is nimbler and more agile.
There is something some might hope Cadillac puts on the Track Edition cars, though. When the Blackwings were still under wraps, Cadillac claimed they would offer optional lightweight magnesium wheels. Those wheels still aren’t available nearly two years later. But it’s hard to think of a more appropriate unveiling than on models that celebrate track performance.
When can you order one and how many will be made?

As of this writing, Cadillac hasn’t revealed how many CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions it will build. The brand’s preview images, though, describe their availability as “extremely limited.”
However, we do know when you can get in line for one. Cadillac says the Track Edition order books will open on August 1st, 2022. And shortly before then, it will reveal these limited-edition sports sedans’ full specs.
How much will the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition cost?
It’s becoming a refrain at this point, but Cadillac also hasn’t released pricing details for the CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions yet. As with the production volume and specs, the prices will likely be revealed by the end of July. But the Track Editions will undoubtedly cost more than a standard CT4-V Blackwing, which starts at just under $60,000.
There’s still quite a bit that’s unknown about the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition. But that won’t be the case in just a few days.
