New curved screen and latest operating system to feature on BMW M4 and broader 4 Series range
BMW is upgrading the infotainment and operating system of the 2023 BMW 4 Series with new hardware and a more sophisticated operating system.
Set to be rolled out from the second quarter of this year, the update will apply to the BMW M4 high-performance flagship and all versions of the BMW 4 Series Coupe, 4 Series Gran Coupe and 4 Series Convertible.
The headline act is the introduction of a 14.9-inch BMW Curved Display that runs the latest Operating System 8.
Combined with the already standard 12.3-inch instrument panel, BMW claims the new package enhances the capabilities of the on-board personal assistant, enabling the driver to use more voice commands and rely less on using physical buttons or controllers.

As well as the new screen, the German brand has also rolled out the audible door ajar alert as found on the all-electric BMW i4.
From March 2023, any 4 Series equipped with an eight-speed automatic will now bag a pair of standard gear shift paddles and a new gear selector on the centre console.
An M Shadowline pack that swaps out the side window chrome for a dark finish also becomes standard across the range.
Inside, a new anthracite-coloured metal finish called ‘Aluminium Rhombicle’ hits the options list.
On the BMW M4, the instrument panel can now be wrapped in Sensatec faux leather, while externally the flagship M coupe gets the option of new M design graphics for the bonnet and boot lid.

Elsewhere in the BMW range, the car-maker will introduce its extended Parking Assistant Professional feature that allows you to remote park your 7 Series, X7 and iX with your BMW App.
Now capable of up to 10 parking manoeuvres, the car can auto self-park at a distance of up to 200 metres.
In the second quarter, BMW will also launch some X1 SUVs with its next-generation iDrive 9 infotainment system that was recently launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Finally, the big 7 Series gets new paint options and greater levels of cabin personalisation, while the flagship BMW X7 SUV is upgraded with next-gen Iconic Glow headlights that first made their debut on the i7 and use Swarovski crystals in the daytime running lights.
