Volkswagen has locked in pricing and features for its updated 2022 T-Roc range, with an overhauled range, increased standard equipment and for the first time, a range-topping R.
T-Roc variants all score an updated exterior with a new grille, bumpers, and LED exterior highlights, as well as a tweaked interior to include the brand’s new steering wheel and branding throughout.
The range continues to kick of with the base model Style, now wearing an MSRP of $37,250, an increase of $1750 over the outgoing model.
The Style continues to be powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (notably missing an upgrade to the Golf’s new 1.5-litre ‘evo’ series engine) mated to an eight-speed Aisin torque converter automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
Standard equipment on the base car on includes 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an 8.0-inch digital dash, wireless phone charging, rear window tinting, paddle-shifters for the transmission, driving modes and sports seats with cloth upholstery.
Vienna leather can be optioned on the Style for $3450, a panoramic sunroof can be optioned for $2000, and an electric tailgate can be had for $600.
Next up in the range is the R-Line, which replaces the Sport. The R-Line wears an MSRP of $45,350, a $2650 increase over the outgoing Sport. The R-Line scores all-wheel drive, a more powerful 2.0-litre engine producing 140kW/320Nm, and a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The R Line has alternate 18-inch wheels, a sportier suspension and steering tune, an upgraded 10.25-inch digital dashboard, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also score the range-wide upgrade to include wireless phone charging, voice control, and a new interior R-Line theme and seats.
The R-Line is available with optional ‘Black Style’ pack for $2900 which includes larger 19-inch wheels, black styling details inside and out, a contrast black roof, adaptive suspension, and Beats-branded premium audio.
It can also be chosen with Napa leather for $3950 as well as the panoramic sunroof and electric tailgate.
Topping the range is the new R. Sporting a fire-breathing 2.0-litre turbocharged EA888 engine producing 221kW/400Nm, the T-Roc R sends drive to all its wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and a performance oriented all-wheel drive system.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloys, adaptive suspension, a ‘Race’ drive mode, R highlights, and standard Napa leather interior alongside the rest of the equipment on the R-Line. A Beats audio system can be optioned for $750, while extended blue inlays for the interior can be chosen for $250.
The R wears an MSRP of $59,300, undercutting its Golf R relation which starts at $68,990. It can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Safety equipment is standard across the range, with active items including freeway-speed auto emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring with active assist and rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and an auto parking function.
The updated T-Roc range is set to arrive in August.
