The interior images of the upcoming 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has been spied for the first time and these pictures reveal a lot about the upcoming 7-seater Mahindra SUV.
As per the new spy images, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio features an entirely new dashboard and the interior looks very upmarket. In addition to that, the interior also features a large infotainment unit.
The interior also features dual-tone seat upholstery, rear AC vents, roof-mounted speakers, wireless charging, start/stop button, sunroof, drive mode selector and a few more.
However, in comparison to the Mahindra XUV700, the upcoming 2022 Scorpio does miss out on a few upmarket features such as the fully digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, and fully electrical seat adjustment.
We do expect Mahindra to offer features such as seat ventilation, a 360-degree surround-view camera, a large touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a cooled glovebox, and leather seats on the top-end variants.
Like the Mahindra XUV700, we expect the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio to feature forward-facing seats on the third row. Moreover, these seats can be accessed by folding the middle row seats in the SUV.
From the outside, it is clear that the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio SUV is larger than its predecessor and takes a lot of inspiration from the outgoing Scorpio SUV and other Mahindra SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV700 and Mahindra XUV300.
This inspired design gives the new Mahindra Scorpio an upright front-end, boxy twin-pod headlamps, and tall wraparound style taillamps.
Going back to the initial development stages of the new-gen Mahindra Scorpio, the SUV was developed alongside the XUV700 and Mahindra Thar, and the Scorpio was more often spotted testing with the XUV700.
Given the circumstances, it is safe to assume that the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio is likely to share many mechanical and electrical bits from the Mahindra XUV700 and Mahindra Thar.
However, unlike the Mahindra XUV700, the new Scorpio is likely to sport a rugged body-on-frame chassis, but Mahindra will continue to use its tried-and-tested 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine and the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
In order to avoid direct competition with Mahindra XUV700, the engines are most likely to come in a slightly lower state of tune compared to the Mahindra XUV700. Also, the new Mahindra Scorpio will come with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to this, we expect the Mahindra Scorpio to feature a shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive at least as an option on the top-end variants.
However, we are not sure whether Mahindra will equip the new Scorpio with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that’s been seen on the Mahindra XUV700.
Speaking about Mahindra Scorpio, the SUV has been a game-changer for Mahindra in many ways. Despite its age, the company kept the Scorpio in production with some occasional updates over the years.
We expect Mahindra to price the new Scorpio aggressively with a starting price close to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom.
Thoughts About The All-New 2022 Mahindra Scorpio
The Mahindra Scorpio has been serving the Indian automotive market for quite some time and we expect the new Scorpio to be one of the best-selling SUVs in the market when launched.
