BMW Australia will expand its Sport series to also encompass the X1 and X2 crossovers, after already launching versions for the 1, 2 and 3 Series earlier this year.
The X1 version will arrive later this month and is limited to 100 units, while the X2 version is set for launch in the third quarter.
Priced at $55,900 driveaway, and based on the $47,900 before on-road costs sDrive18i, the Sport version adds a number of changes to specification to justify its price increase.
As standard, there is metallic paint (in black or white), a head-up display, gloss-black interior trim, powered tailgate, keyless entry, electronic seat adjustment and heated front seats.
The multimedia system has also been upgraded to a 10.25-inch unit with satellite navigation, while a faux-leather interior, xLine kit and 18-inch wheels carryover as before.
The X2 sDrive18i Sport meanwhile, retails for $59,900 driveaway, and is based on the sDrive18i version of the coupe SUV that is available for $49,900 before on-road costs.
However, unlike the X1, the X2 version is available exclusively with a Black Sapphire metallic paint colour, while an M Sport kit, new-look 19-inch wheels, a panoramic glass sunroof and hexagon-themed interior are also added.
The X2 Sport also features the electronic seat adjustment and heated front seats of the X1 Sport, while carryover gear includes a head-up display, 10.25-inch multimedia screen and powered tailgate.
Both the sDrive18i cars are powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine, pushing out 103kW/220Nm to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The X1 is also available with the more potent sDrive20i engine, upping prices to $67,900 driveaway (up from the X1 sDrive20i’s $56,900 before on-road costs figure).
Additions include four metallic paint choices, an M Sport package, 19-inch wheels, leather interior with black and blue highlights, gloss-black interior trim and a panoramic glass sunroof.
Powering the X1 sDrive20i Sport is a 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which sends drive to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
