It pays homage to George Follmer and his 1974 IROC 911 RSR.
Considering the Porsche 911 RSR only had a short run at the International Race of Champions (IROC) in the 1970s, examples gracing the racing series come in ultra-limited numbers. Fortunately for fans, Retro Designs has brought back an IROC-inspired restomod that pays homage to George Follmer.
Follmer is an American racing driver who took the Porsche 911 RSR in IROC's inaugural 1973-1974 season, going up against drivers from other racing series, such as Emerson Fittipaldi and Richard Petty. The following season saw the takeover of Chevrolet Camaros, and the 911s never returned to the scene.
The IROC-inspired Porsche 911 RSR is bringing back the spirit of classic racing with Follmer's 1974 IROC livery painted in Bahama Blue with white accents.

Inside, Retro Designs installed 917 Lollipop seats, a Momo Protipo steering wheel, a heated front windscreen, a '74 RSR IROC roll bar, and an RS carpet kit.
In the performance department, the reimagined car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine good for 300 horsepower. The machine is matched to a remarkable 915 transmission. An exclusive RSR exhaust has been fitted to create a sharper engine note.
Brake rotors with big red brake calipers from Porsche 930 add a sporty touch. It is paired with Fikse tires, Fuchs-style wheels, and Bilstein coilovers, which are said to allow for a “smoother, more forgiving driving experience on the track or highway.”

Rounding up the specs is the integration of mods for improved stabilization, including front tower struts, adjustable sway bars, rear strut tower reinforcement braces, and a strut tower bracing system.
“Even though we upgraded the vehicle in several key areas, the driver can still feel like they are getting behind the wheel of a proper vintage racing machine that was truly groundbreaking in motorsports at the time in the 1970s,” said Retro Designs Owner Daniel Valjevac in a statement.
Retro Designs is offering the 1974 RSR IROC edition for $250,000. That seems like a bargain compared to the real deal, with one of the 15 original 911 RSRs once owned by drug kingpin Pablo Escobar sold for over a million dollars at auction.
