1969 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER UPGRADES
The 1969 was mostly carried over from 1968 with the typical cosmetic changes to front and rear facia, side marker lights, stripes, trim and a new design for the Road Runner decal. A convertible body style was added to the lineup, which surely cost its sister car the GTX some convertible sales. Inside there were new bucket seats. All in all, it was a successful design, over 84,000 were sold and Motor Trend Magazine named it their 1969 Car of the Year.

The standard engine was the Roadrunner 383 with 335hp, 5 more than the standard 383 Magnum or Super Commando 383s by virtue of its wilder cam. Even better, it produced 425 lb-ft of torque, the second highest of any Plymouth. However, 383s optioned with Air Conditioning got the normal 330hp engine. The 440 Six-Pack sporting three Holley 2-barrel carburetors on top was also offered starting midyear. All came with functional cold-air hood scoops, the Dana 60 limited slip differential with 4.10:1 axle ratio. The 426 Hemi was at the top of the heap, sprouting twin 4-barrels and making 425hp and 490 lb-ft of torque.
