Just as the Malibu name started out as a trim level designation for the Chevelle, the legendary Oldsmobile Cutlass began life as a blinged-up F-85. The F-85 first hit American roads for the 1961 model year, then endured a long period as the cheap Cutlass sibling before being axed after 1972. Here’s a cheerful magazine advertisement for the second year of the F-85, when the name still meant something.

A bright red F-85 coupe sits parked in an awkward location at a kids’ football game and provides a sporty backdrop for the winning team’s victory celebration. The 1962 F-85 came with Oldsmobile’s futuristic 215-cubic-inch aluminum-block V8 (sibling to the Buick 215 that eventually became the Rover V8 as well as ancestor to millions of Buick V6s) and shared much of the styling seen in the more expensive Oldsmobiles that year. As for the “Morocceen” upholstery, it’s just disappointing that the name for Olds vinyl never caught on as well as Corinthian Leather did for Chrysler.
