You won't easily find a nicer Mk IV Supra Turbo.
Would you rather spend $50,000 on an immaculate fourth-generation 1994 Toyota Supra Turbo – still considered by many to be the best Supra generation ever – or a few grand more on an all-new 2023 GR Supra 3.0? That’s the question posed by a listing on Bring A Trailer for an A80 Supra Turbo finished in striking Renaissance Red and with a mere 10,000 miles on the clock.
The bid at the time of writing is $50k, but this may have changed by the time you read this. Mk IV Supra values have skyrocketed in recent years, and Turbo derivatives like this one are especially desirable.
While fifth-generation Supras also hold their value well, there’s still something mystical about the Mk IV that was launched in the midst of what were a golden couple of years for Japanese sports cars.
Perhaps the only downside of the red 1994 model sold here is that it uses a four-speed automatic transmission instead of the Getrag six-speed manual that was available. Of course, it took a few years for Toyota to release a manual gearbox for the current GR Supra, even though the automaker does not expect to sell many of them.
This 1994 model features a limited-slip differential and 17-inch silver wheels, along with a removable roof panel. The well-known 2JZ-GTE mill produces 320 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque, and an oil change was done before this sale.
For further peace of mind, the car has a clean Carfax report with no history of accidents or other damage. We couldn't spot any blemishes on the paintwork in the walkaround video below. Everything from the headlight covers to the windows indicates that this car has been lovingly cared for over the last three decades.
The interior is just as flawless, with a black dashboard and tan leather upholstery. It has a neat leather-wrapped steering wheel, Supra-branded floor mats, a power driver's seat, cruise control, and climate control.
Following initial delivery to Mel Grata Toyota of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, this Supra was acquired by its current owner back in 2019. Between then and now, the mileage only increased by around 400 miles.
Of course, you’ll get more power, all the modern amenities, and a manual gearbox by going for the all-new Supra. But the Mk IV is not considered an icon for nothing, and there is no BMW-shared chassis or engine that will invite sneers from Toyota loyalists, just that classic 2JZ-GTE inline-six engine.
The automatic transmission is perhaps the only aspect holding this near-perfect A80 back from attracting a much higher bid.
