The average vehicles can become expensive while car shopping. However, there are cars that make average car prices look like pocket change. These cars are vehicles most of us cannot fathom affording, with ludicrous speed, horsepower, and luxury features. Here are the 10 most expensive cars in the world, according to Cars24.

1. Rolls-Royce Boat Tail

Rolls-Royce Boat Tail | Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

  • Price: $28 million

Rolls-Royce has a well-earned reputation for creating the most luxurious cars on the market. High-quality materials, unique designs, and top-of-the-line technology welcome some of the wealthiest drivers in the world.

The Boat Tail is the successor to the Sweptail, built by the brand’s coachbuild division. It shares the chassis of the Rolls-Royce Phantom but comes with plenty of bespoke parts and is just over 19 feet long. It’s powered by a 6.7-liter twin-turbo V12 engine producing 563 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. But if you’re looking at a Boat Tail, you’re not there for just the power.

The interior comes with a “hosting suite” in the rear trunk. The trunk lid folds up to release a built-in umbrella and champagne refrigerator that Rolls-Royce says houses “the clients’ favourite vintages of Armand de Brign.” The bottles can cooled quickly to around six degrees, which is the best serving temperature of these vintages.

2. Bugatti La Voiture Noire

  • Price: $18.7 million

The first of multiple Bugatti models on this list, the La Voiture Noire starts things off with a healthy helping of horsepower compared to the Boat Tail. It’s powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine that produces 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque.

Bugatti says the La Voiture Noire pays homage to the Type 57 SC Atlantic model created by Ettore Bugatti’s eldest son Jean. It’s a tribute to Bugatti’s history with modern luxury, technology, and speed. Despite the incredible power figures, Bugatti claims the La Voiture Noire is a grand tourer, not a hyper sports car, according to MotorTrend. It comes with six tailpipes, and a badge at the back lights up to spell the Bugatti name. This is a one-of-a-kind model from the German manufacturer.

3. Bugatti Centodieci

  • Price: $9 million

Another Bugatti with incredible power figures, the Centodieci, showcases more aggressive styling than the La Voiture Noire. It’s a tribute to the EB110 and a celebration of Bugatti’s 110th birthday—hence the name Centodieci. The Centodieci is also powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, but this one produces 1,578 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive supercar gets you from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.4 seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 6.1 seconds. It’s 20 kg (44 lbs) lighter than the popular Chiron, with roughly 200 lbs more downforce.

Only 10 models of the Centodieci were produced, making scarcity a big reason why it’s one of the most expensive cars. Bugatti design director Achim Anscheidt describes taking the flat, wedge shape of the EB110 and transporting the “classic look into the new millennium and integrating it into the underlying Chiron platform.” With its sleek design, Bugatti calls the Centodieci “a true, tangible work of art.”

4. Mercedes Maybach Exelero

  • Price: $8-10 million

The Exelero is one of the oldest models on the list, having debuted in 2004. It was created by Fulda, the German division of Goodyear, for testing new tires. The concept car is powered by a twin-turbo V12 engine generating 690 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque with a top speed can of 218 mph.

Its sleek design makes it very aerodynamically efficient. At 19 feet long and a curb weight of more than 5,800 lbs., the Exelero can use the efficiency. It’ll go 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds. It was priced at $8 million but would likely cost more in 2022.

5. Bugatti Divo

  • Price: $5.8 million

Another Bugatti is one of the most expensive cars you can buy. Cars24 notes it’s a staff favorite among Bugatti’s one-off models. It’s very similar to the Chiron but makes some performance changes: lighter wheels, a carbon fiber intercooler, and getting rid of some sound deadening drops the weight by 77 pounds. Bugatti calls the Divo the company’s “first coachbuilt hyper sports car of the 21st century”. The Divo is named for French racing driver Albert Divo who won the Targa Florio race twice in the 1920s for Bugatti.

It’s powered by the 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine in many Bugatti models, producing 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the lighter curb weight, the Divo is eight seconds faster around the brand’s Nardo test circuit than the Chiron. Forty models were produced.

6. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

  • Price: $4.8 million

The only model from Swedish automaker Koenigsegg is one of the most expensive cars you can buy. The CCXR Trevita stands out thanks to its unique carbon fiber. The material is typically only available in black for manufacturers. But Koenigsegg created a new coated fiber solution that took the fibers from black to silvery white. It’s one of the older models on the list, as only two models were produced in 2010.

The supercharged 4.8-liter V8 engine produces 1,018 horsepower and 796 lb-ft of torque. That power and lightweight frame get you from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. It also stops very quickly, too, going from 62 to 0 mph in just 104 feet. Per HotCars, legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather spent $4.8 million on one of the two CCXR Trevita models in existence.

7. Lamborghini Veneno

Related

  • Price: $4.5 million

The iconic Italian manufacturer’s first entry on the list, the Veneno was made to mark the 50th anniversary of the brand’s founding. Only 14 Veneno and Veneno Roadster models were produced and based on the Aventador model. Lamborghini says the Veneno “takes the aerodynamic efficiency of a racing prototype onto everyday roads,” calling it the perfect car for sports-driving lovers.

Veneno models are powered by a modified version of the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12 powertrain. It’s tuned up to generate 740 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

8. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

  • Price: $3.9 million

The Bugatti Chiron is one of the most powerful production vehicles on the planet. The Super Sport 300+ takes things up a notch. It’s a celebration of the 110th anniversary of the company in Molsheim, per Bugatti, and is based on the first hypercar to break 300 mph. “The Chiron Super Sport 300+ is more than just the fastest series-production sports car in the world,” former Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann said on its debut. “It is a testimony to Bugatti’s technical refinement, masterly workmanship, and enormous attention to detail.”

It shares the same powertrain as the Centodieci. Minimal drag, maximum downforce, and sliding bodywork make the Super Sport 300+ as impressive as it is fast.

9. Lamborghini Sian

  • Price: $3.6 million

Lamborghini’s second model on this list represents a change from the traditional powertrains used by the Italian automaker. The Sian’s 6.5-liter V12 is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This means a combined 819 hp and 557 lb-ft of torque, making the Sian the most powerful vehicle in Lamborghini’s history.

Only 63 Sian models were produced, noted by the 63 stickers on either side of the car’s wing.

10. Pagani Huayra Roadster BC

  • Price: $3.5 million

Rounding out the top 10 most expensive cars is an incredible roadster from Italian automaker Pagani. The Huayra turned heads in 2011 with its aggressive styling and powerful twin-turbo. The Roadster BC takes cues from the Huayra but makes things more track-focused.

The Roadster BC gets an upgraded twin-turbo V12 developed by Mercedes-Benz for Pagani. The 6.0-liter engine produces 791 hp and 774 lb-ft of torque. The Roadster BC is more than 60 pounds lighter than the standard Roadster while generating 1,102 pounds of downforce, per CarBuzz. It’s incredibly stable in corners and at speeds. In what’s become a theme of this list, it’s a rare model, too. Only 40 were produced.

Are the most expensive cars on this list worth it?

The level of luxury and power, in addition to the unique nature of many of these models, can justify the high price tags you’ll see on them. Who wouldn’t want a built-in hosting suite with perfectly chilled champagne? But still, these remain models that few will have the funds to truly enjoy.
