According to Consumer Reports, the 2023 Kia Sorento is not expected to last. It earned the lowest possible predicted reliability rating. This is a dagger for CR ratings. This reliability score led to Consumer Reports not recommending the 2023 Kia Sorento.
This low score results from a recall for 2023 Sorentos PHEV with the towing package installed. In some cases, dirt and debris can accumulate on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
Compared to other vehicles of its class, the 2023 Kia Sorento landed second to last, only outranking the Nissan Pathfinder.

The Kia’s standard 191-hp four-cylinder engine is said to be both noisy and sluggish. However, the EX AWD trim has a 281-hp, turbocharged four-cylinder—which essentially replaces the previous V6—has some grunt that CR testers liked. The Ex also gets a proper eight-speed dual-clutch transmission offering smooth, quick shifts.
The Hybrid model also has some impressive moments, getting 28 mpg overall, which, in a three-row SUV, ain’t no joke. If you keep your foot out of it, the plug-in hybrid version gets 32 miles of pure electric power.
CR says the ride can get a little stiff and “jumpy.” Apparently, the previous model was far more civilized when dealing with road imperfections and bumps, but the Hybrid is a bit softer. Handling is responsive and handles corners well. However, Cr calls the steering “light” and “rather dull.”

The 2023 starts at $29,000 and climbs up to nearly $50,000. Considering CR’s less-than-stellar review, the price point and reliability issues make the Kia Sorento a hard choice to make any sense of.
